The Colours of Darkness

Opening up the album with the dreamy but lulling and playful "Birds of Years Past," dancing through rhythmic subdivisions of 4+3+4+5, Trance Lucid does a phenomenal mix of chilled out instrumental rock informed by and alternating between classic progressive guitar riffage, Pink Floyd type atmospherics and King Crimson rawk. Giving a lot of focus and attention to their textures, they easily shift between moods and influences, making the groove and the vibe the priority. Thus, The Colours of Darkness has appeal to audiences between the prog guitar fan to the chilled out hippie jam fan. For eight bucks, that is one helluva deal.
